Criminal Justice Project

Our Criminal Justice Project involves a study of the Cook County Criminal Justice System with an emphasis on felony cases at the central criminal courts at 26th and California. The first of its kind since 1929, our comprehensive examination will explore problems and propose meaningful solutions relating to lawyering and judicial performance in the felony trial courtrooms. Our goal is to assist the various components of the criminal justice system to work more fairly, efficiently, and effectively with adequate levels of funding.  The project is being conducted by the Chicago Council of Lawyers and Chicago Appleseed Fund For Justice, with Chicago Appleseed taking the lead on the research portion of the project.
